Australian girl raped immediately after PNG car-jacking

An Australian lady has been raped soon after she and her friends ended up car-jacked although on a surfing vacation in Papua New Guinea.
The girl and 3 male buddies, also Australians, ended up travelling near Madang on PNG’s north coast on Saturday.
Neighborhood reports say the group stopped to drop off their surfboards once they ended up set upon by a group of men armed with guns and knives.
They have been robbed, compelled back again into their vehicle and driven to a secluded spot where the men were tied up and the lady raped.
The adult males happen to be Australian youth ambassadors for AusAid.
Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) says the group received full consular help in PNG and have now returned residence.
A DFAT spokesman says the issue is appalling and neighborhood police are questioning two males through the event.
“A Port Moresby-based Australian Federal Police officer is in Madang to tension the Australian Government’s interest in ensuring all the perpetrators are brought to justice,” the spokesman mentioned.
